How do you get Power in Control? By being flexible.
Traditional design has typically made racquets stiffer and stiffer. That’s fine for power – but what good is all the power in the world if you can’t control the ball? The question is: How do we harness maximum power and control it?
Since the beginning of tennis, the racquet has bent in the same way on impact. Now everything has changed; racquets with HEAD Flexpoint™ technology are the first to flex in a whole new way. Hole + Dimple = Flexpoint™
Powered by Liquidmetal®, Flexpoint™ technology is breaking the rules of traditional racquet design with two precisely engineered control holes … giving the racquet a revolutionary new flexpoint.
Traditional racquet bending: Power without control.
Racquet with patented HEAD Flexpoint™ technology: Power In Control. Just a racquet with two holes? Hole + Dimple = Flexpoint™
These two newly designed holes, positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock on the racquet head, work together to bring power in control. The dimple is engineered to create flexibility by reducing beam height by a maximum of 25 %. The hole increases sectional flexibility up to 50%.
Cupping Effect
The racquet forms a ”cup” that surrounds the ball. Dwell time is increased and control is maximized. To visualize this, think of how your hand cups a ball. This cupping effect produces control like never before, with no loss of power.

Made of a specially designed matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy. This alloy’s grain-size is 1000 times smaller than that of a typical metal*. Made of a specially designed matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy. This alloy’s grain-size is 1000 times smaller than that of a typical metal*. The decreased grain size means increased performance, or, as the Hall-Petch Effect states: smaller grains = stronger material. The result is a lighter, stronger and more powerful racquet than ever before. HEAD Stabilizer: The new HEAD Stabilizer eliminates racquet vibration and ensures the ultimate in comfort on every shot.
HEAD LMS
By lowering the bridge section in a unique new throat design, HEAD’s LMS (Longer Main String) design creates a larger hitting surface without making the racquet any bigger. The player benefits from the larger sweet spot
and better maneuverability.

"For 20 years, the Prestige has been Head’s gold standard for advanced players. This update has the same solid feel, but has been improved with Flexpoint. Unlike many technologies that are meant to help you play better when you miss the sweet spot, Flexpoint improves your performance when you nail it. The holes and dimples at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head allow the frame to bend on impact, cradling the ball for more control. This doesn’t turn the Prestige into a game-improvement frame with a huge sweet spot, but it lets you swing hard without sacrificing control. It’s an improvement that advanced players with long, fast strokes will appreciate. The midsize and mid-plus offer a blend of power and control. And although they weigh around 12 ounces, they’re head light, so you shouldn’t have much trouble at net. We wish we could say the same for the extra-long, but advanced playtesters said the length compromised maneuverability at net and made it difficult to get their timing down on serves."–Tennis Magazine

"At the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head, the Radical has something new: dimples, and holes drilled through the beam, creating Flexpoints that are supposed to allow the head to bend on impact, cupping the ball for more power and control. It works. Advanced players with long, fast swings will savor the mid-plus because it’s accurate and generates a surprising amount of pop. The frame also feels less boardy than 2002’s Liquidmetal Radical, since the Flexpoints cushion the blow. The oversize has a tighter string pattern than you typically find in a larger head, which makes the string bed feel a little stiff. After playtesters got used to the feeling, they found that although the racquet wasn’t ideal for hitting flat shots, which tended to sail long, it aided them on heavier topspin ground strokes and lobs.

BOTTOM LINE:
While the Flexpoint Radical isn’t significantly different from the last Radical, it’s yet another improvement for one of Head’s franchise frames."–Tennis Magazine

" It’s safe to say you’ll crack plenty of winners with this model without sacrificing control, thanks to Flexpoint, a technology that consists of dimples and holes drilled in the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head that allow the frame to flex and keep the ball on the strings for a split second longer. Fans of the original Liquidmetal Instinct will swing faster and with more confidence. The Flexpoint Instinct is similar to its predecessor in other respects. Stability, for example, is stellar. On offcenter hits the racquet steadies your shots and keeps them on target. But like the original, the Flexpoint can feel a bit sluggish. For this reason, it’s best left to aggressive baseliners with strong swings. If you have mechanical deficiencies in your ground strokes or volleys, the Flexpoint won’t do you any favors. But if your technique is solid, it will raise your level.

BOTTOM LINE:
Maneuverability slightly misses the mark, but the blend of power and control is spot on."–Tennis Magazine

"You know a racquet's terrific when most testers won't stop playing with it. That's what happened with the i.S6, which offers a superb combo of power and control for players with short and medium swings. The oversize version is particularly suited for spin doctors, thanks to the 16 by 19 open string pattern, which gives shots a lot of bite. "The frame hits balls virtually on its own," said a 4.5 tester. At least part of the reason for the racquet's nonpareil performance is a technology in the throat that Head calls Intellifibers. It's based on the “piezoelectric effect,” by which mechanical energy (the impact of the ball) is converted into electrical energy. Within the first millisecond of impact, the fibers stiffen to reduce bending (for power) and dissipate vibration (for comfort).

BOTTOM LINE:
Fantastic for any player who's lost half a step."–Tennis Magazine (editor's choice)

"The Flexpoint 4 is light and maneuverable, with an ample sweet spot. It delivers an outstanding blend of power and control at the baseline with a medium to long swing. At net, you’ll have no trouble reacting to volleys and hitting your targets with authority. Even older advanced players, who are typically turned off by light racquets, might want to give this stick a try. It’s slightly lighter and has a bigger head (107 vs. 102 square inches) than its last incarnation, the Liquidmetal 4. But the most significant change is Flexpoint. Head carved dimples and drilled holes in the beam at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions of the head to allow the frame to flex and cup the ball for more control. Flexpoint, along with the built-in dampener, also gives the racquet an exceptionally forgiving feel, even on off-center hits.

BOTTOM LINE:
It’s rare for a racquet with mass appeal to be this well crafted."–Tennis Magazine (editor's choice)
Airflow 7
List Price: $225
GripSize String Tension
The lightest racquet in the Airflow line with great pick-up feel. An extremely forgiving racquet, the Airflow 7 is the top model of the Airflow line, offering the greatest pick-up feel and the lightest weight in the series.
"The Airflow 7, with its large face and ample sweet spot, is built for comfort. Thanks to Metallix (a matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy) in the throat, which provides stiffness and stability, this racquet delivers power without being exceedingly head heavy. Playtesters found the Airflow 7 to be maneuverable, with minimal twisting on off-center shots. The built-in string-vibration dampener gives the racquet a forgiving feel. And the cupping effect on the ball, provided by the Flexpoint technology at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions on the frame, something all Airflows have, enhances control. The grips on the Airflows, which are thinner at the top and thicker at the bottom, are designated in sizes extra small, small, medium, and large rather than the traditional fractions (don’t worry, the racquet comes with a conversion chart). Stronger women with aggressive swings may find this Airflow too light, but when it came to the lower intermediate playtesters for whom this racquet is designed, we heard nothing but compliments." –Tennis Magazine
BOTTOM LINE:
A comfortable racquet that should appeal to new women players or older ones looking for a lightweight option.
